Location: Home-based in Cambridgeshire with regular travel across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
Hours: 31.5 hours per week
Salary: SCP 23 on the NJC payscale (currently £34,434 per annum for a 35 hour week, giving a pro rata salary of £30,990)
Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2027
Closing date: 8am on Tuesday 23 June 2026

Could you help communities take action for nature, water and the environment?

Cambridgeshire ACRE is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Community Environment Officer to support environmental projects across Cambridgeshire.

Working with volunteers, parish councils, community groups and partner organisations, you will help deliver practical environmental improvements, support community-led action and encourage long-term stewardship of local environments.

This is a varied role combining community development with environmental action. You will organise volunteering activities, build partnerships, support local environmental initiatives and help deliver projects that create lasting benefits for both people and nature.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of delivering community-based projects
  • Enjoys working with volunteers and community groups
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Can organise events, activities and practical projects
  • Has knowledge of environmental, conservation, biodiversity or water-related issues
  • Is able to work independently and manage a varied workload

This post is funded until 31 March 2027. Cambridgeshire ACRE has a strong track record of securing funding for environmental programmes and there may be opportunities beyond the initial contract period, subject to future funding being secured.
