Role Purpose
To deliver tailored, empathetic, and technically accurate energy advice to Mortgage Prisoners, ensuring you support the lead energy advisor service to meet the service objectives and provide measurable impact for clients. It is essential that you can maintain high standards of advice, compliance and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Energy Advice Delivery
- Assist in the delivery of 3,120 tailored phone and online energy advice interactions, with 1586 unique households, ensuring each interaction is sensitive to the unique needs of Mortgage Prisoners.
- Provide expert advice on energy-saving measures, behavioural change, and small interventions (e.g., low-energy lightbulbs, heated blankets, radiator foils).
- Where needed, complete actions on customer’s behalf such as speaking to a supplier or submitting an application. Provide clear and detailed updates to the customer afterwards.
- Use Energy Saving Trust tools and other resources to calculate energy and carbon savings, ensuring advice is data-driven and impactful.
- Report to Lead Energy Advisor any concerns or issues that arise from any of your work.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commitment to supporting people through practical advice, with a calm and confident telephone manner, and an understanding of the patience and attentiveness this work requires.
- Quick to learn, with a willingness to develop skills through training and by learning from colleagues.
- Clear and thoughtful communicator, able to share information in a way that works for different audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to respond sensitively to a range of situations, including when people may be distressed, frustrated, or under pressure.
- Genuine interest in addressing fuel poverty and supporting more sustainable ways of living.
- Well organised and able to plan work effectively, while remaining flexible to changing demands.
- Comfortable carrying out routine tasks with care, accuracy, and consistency.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also contributing positively as part of a team.
- Commitment to data protection and GDPR compliance.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- It is highly desirable that you are trained as a level 3 energy advisor, if not, that you are able to start your training immediately.
- Experience working with vulnerable or financially excluded groups.
- Understanding of digital service delivery and accessibility best practices.
Working Conditions
- Office-based in Sheffield.
- 37.5 hours per week
- Due to the nature of the service we are providing it may be necessary to work a few hours in the evening, which be worked as time in lieu
- Participation in wellbeing check-ins and check-outs with Lead Energy Advisor
- 6 monthly reviews
