Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic and driven Destination Park Operations Lead to take strategic and operational ownership of some of the city’s most valued outdoor spaces.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of Park Managers, enhance visitor experiences, and ensure our destination parks operate at the highest standards, every single day.

This exciting new position sits within the Parks & Green Spaces division and will provide strategic leadership across the maintenance, operational performance, and commercial development of Birmingham’s Destination Parks.

We’re looking for an Operational Leader who brings…

  • Proven experience in operations, ideally within grounds maintenance or outdoor environments
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Understanding of health & safety, risk management, and compliance
  • Experience in financial management, resource planning, and performance monitoring
  • A customer focused mindset with a passion for high-quality service delivery
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration abilities
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with resilience in a dynamic environment

You will have direct responsibility for the Birmingham’s Destination Park, the Wildlife & Nature Conservation Centre and Plant Nurseries, ensuring high standards of service, sustainability, and visitor engagement.

What you’ll be doing...

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing parks operations teams
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of destination parks, ensuring safe, efficient operations
  • Drive exceptional visitor experiences and set standards for customer service
  • Manage budgets, resources, and operational planning effectively
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, commercial growth, and continuous improvement
