Finance & Administration Officer

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and organised Finance & Administration Officer to support our Head of Finance and help keep our operations running smoothly.

This is a varied role combining finance, administration, and office coordination - ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple tasks and wants to contribute to meaningful environmental work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial records using accounting software (Sage)
  • Process invoices, payments, and expenses
  • Support payroll, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Assist with bank reconciliation and audit preparation
  • Manage office admin, records, and enquiries
  • Coordinate meetings and provide general team support
  • Assist with procurement, HR admin, and Health & Safety processes

About You

Essential:

  • Strong administration experience
  • Good MS Office skills (especially Excel)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience with Sage or finance systems
  • An understanding of GDPR and financial confidentiality
  • Knowledge of charity finance

Location

This role is primarily office-based in Darlington, with potential for some remote working.

Our key areas of work are research, education and practical habitat improvements. The Trust was established in 2008 by a group of 9 like-minded people with the aim of improving the River Tees.
