Salary: Competitive (£36-45k), dependent on experience.
BiOME Consulting Ltd is an established ecology and ornithology consultancy delivering hundreds of projects each year across England and Wales. With a team of 14 staff and a reputation for providing pragmatic, high-quality ecological advice, we work across a diverse range of sectors and habitats.
Due to continued growth and an expanding workload, we are seeking Senior Ecologists to join our team and support the delivery of ecological projects across our portfolio.
We are particularly interested in applicants based in East Anglia who hold a bat survey licence, although applications are welcomed from experienced ecologists across the East of England and Midlands.
The Role
You will take responsibility for managing ecological projects, coordinating surveys, producing technical reports and supporting the delivery of high-quality ecological advice to our clients.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing ecological projects from inception through to completion.
- Planning and undertaking habitat and protected species surveys.
- Producing high-quality technical reports and assessments.
- Liaising with clients, planning authorities and project teams.
- Supporting and mentoring junior ecologists where appropriate.
- Assisting with project programming and resource planning.
- Contributing to the continued development of the ecology team.
About You
We are looking for motivated and capable ecologists who can work independently whilst contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working within ecological consultancy.
- Strong field survey and report-writing skills.
- Experience managing projects and client relationships.
- A sound understanding of UK ecological legislation, planning policy and survey methodologies.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Membership of CIEEM.
- Biodiversity Net Gain experience.
- Habitat assessment and UKHab experience.
The following would be advantageous:
- Bat survey licence.
- Other protected species licences.
