- Disclosure: Enhanced DBS is required for this position as the post holder will be working with schools and community groups in the region.
About the Role

As a Project Officer, you will help local communities and schools choose active travel options such as walking, wheeling and cycling.
You will deliver a schools-based project across Portsmouth and work closely with schools, community groups and local partners. You may also recruit and support volunteers from Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, helping them contribute to the Trust's goals and objectives.
What You'll Be Doing
- Plan and deliver activities and events that give people the knowledge, skills and confidence to choose active travel.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Active Travel Champions in schools and local authorities, providing advice and support.
- Collect and share success stories, achievements and impact information to promote the work of Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
- Maintain accurate project records and monitor KPI and project performance data.
With the opportunity to work outside all year around, getting about by bike and walking and sharing your passion for active lifestyles, you will get to bring your creativity to work every day. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with young people in person and supporting them to understand and overcome the challenges that may prevent them from walking, wheeling, or cycling to school.
About You

- Understanding of active travel and the barriers faced by people and communities experiencing inequality.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and good practice.
- Experience of managing small projects or delivering specific project activities and outcomes.
- Experience of leading workshops and presenting information to a range of audiences, both online and in person.
- The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk.
