Contract period: Temporary position that will terminate on or before 27 September 2027 on the return of the Senior Technical Specialist, Biodiversity & Nature-Based Solutions from parental leave

We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Technical Specialist, REDD+ & Biodiversity (Parental Leave Cover). You will play a central role in the ongoing design and development of REDD+ projects in West Africa with a specific focus on biodiversity. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with country teams and partners to drive these projects forward, with the development of the biodiversity sections of REDD+ Project Design Documents (PDD) in readiness for project validation.

Therefore, we are looking for a biodiversity expert with substantial field work experience, excellent writing skills and the ability to develop complex technical reports and analyse technical guidelines and standards. A proven understanding of REDD+ projects, or other conservation approaches that address climate change is essential.

You will be able to think holistically and work collaboratively with project staff, partners, and technical specialists. You will be an excellent communicator, used to mentor and build technical capacities of regional staff and partners, and problem solve. You will have the ability to prioritise and manage your time well to deliver work of a high quality and on time. Some international travel maybe required.
