This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the beautiful Market Town of Highworth.

Highworth Town Council is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Grounds and Open Spaces Manager to take the lead in managing and developing the town's parks, open spaces, sports grounds, play areas, cemetery, Market Square, trees and other public assets.

This is a varied and important role with genuine responsibility for the quality, safety and long-term management of some of Highworth's most valued community assets, together with a significant opportunity to shape and deliver future improvements.

Working closely with the Town Clerk, you will manage the Council's maintenance operations, including grounds staff, contractors, equipment, budgets and programmed works. You will also plan and deliver improvement projects and help shape the future management of the Council's land.

Alongside maintaining existing open space assets and spaces to a high standard you will help develop biodiversity and environmental initiatives, support tree planting and meadow management and identify opportunities to enhance the town's green spaces. We are a forward-thinking Council committed to supporting biodiversity, sustainability and climate resilience.

We are looking for someone with strong practical experience in grounds maintenance, parks, horticulture, land management, landscaping or a closely related field, together with the organisational, management and people skills needed to lead a busy and varied service.

You will need to be practical, organised and proactive, with the ability to work confidently and professionally with staff, contractors, Councillors, community groups and members of the public. You will also need experience of staff supervision, health and safety, project delivery, budgeting and operational planning.
