- Disclosure: Basic DBS is not required for this position as the post holder will not (?)be working with school and community groups in the region.
About the role
Team: Estate Management
As the Estate Worker, you will be playing a key role within the team, helping to maintain and enhance the condition, safety and accessibility of the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust estate. You will undertake a range of routine maintenance activities across National Cycle Network (NCN) routes, other paths, and associated land owned or managed by the Trust.
What you’ll be doing
- Work as part of a small team undertaking planned and reactive maintenance work on Walk Wheel Cycle Trust owned and occupied estate.
- Identify issues during land inspections and take appropriate action to address them.
- Safely drive vehicles, tow trailers, and operate equipment and power tools, including chainsaws and strimmers.
- Support volunteering team or community engagement team with volunteer activities
This role is ideal for someone with practical maintenance and groundcare skills who enjoys working outdoors both on their own and occasionally as part of a small team.
About you
We’re looking for someone who has experience and understanding in the areas listed below. You don’t need to meet every requirement — if you feel you’d be a good fit, we encourage you to apply.
- Full clean driving licence and either hold, or be able to obtain, Category B and E for towing on driving licence.
- Hold relevant certificates of competence in chainsaw operation, brush cutter/strimmer use, PA1 and PA6 pesticide application, mobile plant operation (NPORS or equivalent), and ride-on mower operation.
- Experience of working outside in a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Understanding of countryside management principles.
- The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk.
