Birmingham City Council is seeking an experienced and ambitious Greenspace Development and Inward Investment Lead to drive the planning, development and delivery of transformative green infrastructure projects across the city. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in creating sustainable, high-quality parks and green spaces that enhance communities, support biodiversity, and contribute to Birmingham's long-term growth.
As a senior leader within the Parks & Green Spaces service, you will manage a multidisciplinary landscape development team, secure external investment, influence major regeneration schemes, and ensure green infrastructure remains at the heart of the city's development agenda.
What you'll do...
- Lead and manage the delivery of green infrastructure and landscape development projects across Birmingham.
- Oversee the Landscape Development team, ensuring high performance, effective resource management and professional development.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of innovative projects that improve the city's green spaces and natural environment.
- Secure funding through grants, Section 106 agreements and other investment opportunities.
- Work closely with developers, planning colleagues, community groups and external partners to shape sustainable developments.
- Represent Parks & Green Spaces within major regeneration and development programmes.
- Monitor project budgets and ensure effective financial planning and forecasting.
- Prepare reports, presentations and briefing papers for senior officers and elected members.
- Manage framework agreements and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to high environmental standards.
What you'll need...
- Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute.
- Significant experience in landscape architecture, landscape management, capital project management, commercial project management or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience delivering complex landscape, environmental, green infrastructure or urban development projects.
- Experience managing substantial budgets and securing external funding.
- Proven success negotiating and managing Section 106 agreements.
- Experience building strong relationships with developers, local authorities, community organisations and other stakeholders.
- Excellent project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing reports and delivering presentations.
- Sound knowledge of green infrastructure planning, sustainable urban design and landscape architecture principles.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in green infrastructure, including climate-resilient design.
