Marine Project Manager
St Helena National Trust
The St Helena National Trust is seeking a Marine Project Manager to lead a portfolio of marine conservation projects focused on seahorses, devil rays, Storm Petrels and whale sharks. Based within St Helena's internationally significant Marine Protected Area, this role offers an opportunity to help conserve and monitor some of the island's most important marine species and habitats.
The successful candidate will coordinate project delivery across multiple conservation programmes, with responsibility for project planning and implementation, staff supervision, budget and resource management, ecological monitoring, data management, stakeholder engagement and project reporting. They will work closely with Trust staff, government departments, local stakeholders and international conservation partners.
The role includes supporting and overseeing monitoring activities, including snorkelling and SCUBA-based surveys, seabird monitoring, species identification, and using conservation technology such as cameras, acoustic recorders, and environmental monitoring equipment. The postholder will help ensure these programmes deliver high-quality data to support conservation management and future research.
This is a varied position suited to someone who enjoys balancing project coordination, team leadership and practical conservation delivery while working in a unique island environment. The successful applicant will contribute to long-term conservation capacity within the Trust by mentoring staff and volunteers, strengthening monitoring programmes, and supporting future conservation initiatives.
