Conservation Manager
Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust
We are looking for a talented nature conservationist with leadership experience. You will have substantial experience of conservation land-management, including management plan production, project development and agri-environment schemes. Ideally, you will also have substantial knowledge of terrestrial and freshwater ecology.
This role will be fundamental to our ambitions to grow our land-management impact across the dozens of islands for which we are responsible (hopefully through the Small is Beautiful ELMS Landscape Recovery scheme which is currently under Defra assessment). Our conservation grazing (cattle and goats at present)is being expanded, and we are also growing our team of staff and volunteers.
About Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust
We look after around half of the Isles of Scilly, making sure that Scilly stays special. We help wildlife thrive and provide opportunities for us all to enjoy nature. We exist to protect the islands’ unique heritage, particularly its native wildlife, ensuring that our environment can be enjoyed by all.
As well as managing around 700ha of land, we monitor and conserve important species, from seabirds and seals to bats and rare plants. We provide more than 85km of paths around ten islands, so that people can safely explore.
We protect our local archaeology, including over 170 Scheduled Monuments, and we work with local people and visitors to make Scilly more sustainable.
