Director of Natural Resources
Duchy of Cornwall
The Duchy of Cornwall is on a mission to become a world-leading impact organisation, using its assets and convening power to deliver resilient, vibrant, and prosperous communities and ecosystems – now, and into the future. We create positive outcomes for people, nature and communities, as well as returns that are reinvested with purpose.
We’re looking for a Director of Natural Resources to play a key role in delivering the Duchy’s environmental, commercial and social objectives. The role will focus on securing significant public, private and philanthropic investment into nature recovery, while also delivering commercial returns from our natural resource portfolios, including forestry, marine, minerals and new acquisitions.
Reporting to the Executive Director for Rural, you’ll provide strategic leadership across the Duchy’s natural resource portfolio, working closely with colleagues, external partners, consultants, investors and government stakeholders. You’ll lead the development of innovative approaches to nature renewal, including blended finance and green finance opportunities across biodiversity, carbon and water markets, as well as providing oversight of key nature recovery projects.
You’ll also lead strategic financial analysis and investment appraisal across the rural estate, supporting major acquisitions and asset management decisions. Alongside this, you’ll provide oversight of the forestry, marine and minerals portfolios, ensuring they are commercially sustainable, well governed and aligned with the Duchy’s environmental and social objectives.
We’re looking for an experienced leader with exceptional stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills, alongside significant experience in natural capital, green finance and payments for ecosystem services. You’ll also bring strong financial modelling and investment appraisal skills, and a good understanding of land, property and natural resource management.
So, if you’re an experienced natural resources leader who is excited by the opportunity to unlock investment, shape innovative approaches to nature recovery and deliver meaningful commercial, environmental and social impact at the Duchy, then we’d love to hear from you.
