Help create thriving green spaces and sustainable communities

Are you passionate about green spaces, communities and making a lasting impact where people live?

The Land Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Estates & Community Officer to help manage and enhance a portfolio of residential developments across Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. In this varied and rewarding role, you will combine estate management, contractor oversight and community engagement to ensure our green spaces are welcoming, well-maintained and valued by local residents.

Working closely with residents, developers, contractors and colleagues, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding green space management while helping to build stronger, more connected communities.

About the role

As an Estates & Community Officer, you will:

  • Manage grounds maintenance and landscape contractors to ensure high standards are achieved.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and monitor contractor performance.
  • Act as a key point of contact for residents, customers, contractors and developer partners.
  • Organise and deliver a programme of community events, meetings and engagement activities.
  • Support the development and enhancement of landscapes and public open spaces.
  • Monitor budgets, raise purchase orders and process invoices.
  • Help oversee the transfer of new development phases into long-term management.
  • Work alongside communications colleagues to promote community activities and site initiatives.
  • Champion the creation of sustainable, thriving communities
  • No two days are the same. One day you may be reviewing landscape works on site, the next leading a resident engagement event or working with partners to improve the long-term management of a development.

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing landscape or grounds maintenance contracts.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience dealing with residents, customers or members of the public.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business travel.

Desirable:

  • Horticulture, landscape or estate management experience.
  • Experience working with service charge funded developments.
  • Knowledge of landscape management plans and management agreements.
  • Experience working with public, private and voluntary sector partners.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relations Management Systems and customer engagement platforms.
