Conservation & Wildlife

Help shape the future of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service for a Project Officer to help conserve, enhance and celebrate the special qualities of the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape. The role forms part of a dedicated team working to deliver environmental, heritage, community and landscape enhancement projects across one of England's most treasured protected landscapes.

About the role

This is a highly varied position offering the opportunity to work at the heart of landscape-scale conservation and community engagement.

You will work with a diverse range of partners including farmers, landowners, community groups, local authorities, charities, volunteers and specialist organisations to develop and deliver projects that provide lasting benefits for nature, climate, heritage and local communities.

The role will involve:

  • Developing and managing environmental, access, heritage and community-based projects.
  • Working with partners to identify opportunities and secure external funding.
  • Supporting project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Promoting the work of the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape through events, communications and engagement activities.
  • Helping to review, update and coordinate delivery of the National Landscape Management Plan.
  • Contributing to the wider work of the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service and Lincolnshire County Council.

This position offers a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to the future management of the Lincolnshire Wolds while working on projects that have tangible benefits for people and place.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and organised individual who is passionate about the natural environment and committed to collaborative working.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of developing or delivering projects.
  • Strong partnership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
  • Experience of preparing reports, monitoring information and funding-related documentation.
  • Knowledge of environmental, countryside, conservation, heritage or rural development issues.

A relevant qualification in environmental, countryside management, geography, ecology, heritage or related discipline would be advantageous, as would experience of working with external funding programmes and community groups. We welcome applications from individuals with environmental, land management or rural development knowledge and experience of working alongside multiple stakeholders.

Why join us?

Working for Lincolnshire County Council offers the chance to be part of an organisation committed to improving communities, supporting the environment and delivering meaningful outcomes for residents and visitors alike.

In return, we offer:

  • Flexible and agile working arrangements.
  • Access to learning and development opportunities.
  • A supportive and experienced team environment.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme membership.
  • Employee well-being support and staff benefits.
  • The opportunity to make a lasting impact within a nationally significant landscape.
