About EJF
The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is a global non-profit organisation working to protect the natural world and our fundamental human right to a secure environment. We work at the frontlines of environmental injustice, alongside communities most affected by climate breakdown, biodiversity loss, and exploitation - transforming evidence into action, and injustice into lasting change.
Through field investigations, rigorous research, and strategic international advocacy, we expose environmental crime, challenge impunity, and catalyse systemic reform. Our work delivers real-world impact, shaping policy, strengthening governance, protecting vital ecosystems, and defending those who risk their lives to safeguard them.
Our campaigns span interconnected issues: protecting oceans, climate, forests, and wetlands, along with the biodiversity and communities most dependent on them; and training, supporting and equipping environmental defenders and investigative journalists. From illegal fishing and plastic pollution to deforestation, land grabs, and climate breakdown, we confront some of the most complex and urgent crises of our time - always with a focus on accountability, equity, and long-lasting solutions.
EJF has a diverse team of campaigners, filmmakers and community mobilisers working across four continents, united by a shared ambition: to protect people by protecting the planet. We are bold, evidence-led, and impact-driven. We speak truth to power - and we build pathways to a fairer, more resilient future. Join Us.
About the role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced project coordinator to support the delivery of EJF’s portfolio of cutting-edge environmental campaigns driving critical impact for people and our shared planet. We’re looking for an outstanding professional to support the CEO and senior teams in overseeing our high-level advocacy campaigns, grassroots projects and conservation programmes across 17 country offices on four continents. You will report directly to the CEO and play a key role in ensuring our growing advocacy delivers meaningful, measurable environmental impacts.
As the central point of coordination across EJF, you will have a unique view of our work: knowing where every campaign stands, anticipating the key moments ahead, and making sure the right people have the right information at the right time. You will build on established systems for tracking progress and impact, bringing campaign teams, senior leadership and our film, communications and operations colleagues together to keep our work aligned, ambitious and on course. You will contribute to our shared learning within and between campaigns and projects, helping to drive effectiveness and efficiency. You will also play an important role in telling the story of our impact to the funders and external partners who support our work.
You will be exposed to a diverse range of campaigns: protecting the ocean, wetlands, forests and our global climate and amplifying the voices of frontline communities in the Global South. You will gain rare insights, invaluable skills and experience at the heart of a growing charity and international organisation.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will take direction from the CEO to coordinate key actions across all EJF campaigns and operations, taking responsibility for:
Monitoring, evaluation and impact analysis
- Run and maintain EJF’s global M&E system, ensuring every campaign has an up-to-date baseline impact strategy with clear, measurable objectives, outcomes, indicators and outputs aligned with EJF’s global goals.
- Lead the quarterly reporting cycle: prompt teams to report against their baselines, follow up on missing or incomplete submissions, and ensure team leads review reports before submission.
- Analyse quarterly submissions and give the CEO and Director a constructive, critical assessment of progress against agreed metrics. This covers headline results, key wins, which campaigns are on track or behind and why, delivery and timeline risks, and progress on previously raised issues.
- Work with the CEO and team leads to reset campaign baselines when a campaign’s direction or objectives change.
Senior leadership oversight
- Act as the central source of knowledge on campaign status across EJF, staying informed through regular check-ins with campaign teams.
- Keep the CEO, Director and Senior Management Team (SMT) briefed on progress, challenges and opportunities, tracking items pending their review or approval and proactively flagging risks and decisions that need attention.
Campaign calendar and planning
- Maintain EJF’s central campaign calendar, working with teams each month to identify key moments such as major initiatives, report and film launches, advocacy meetings and relevant third-party events.
- Produce a monthly overview for team leads of the biggest moments ahead, organised by campaign area and global goal.
Supporter and external reporting
- Produce regular funder newsletters in Mailchimp, turning M&E data and programme activity into clear, audience-tailored impact updates.
- Maintain the record of grant funding, ensure teams deliver narrative reports on time, and support other donor communications and progress reports as needed.
- Draft EJF’s annual impact report, an inspiring document showcasing our key progress and achievements.
Cross-team coordination and procedure
- Work with the CEO, Director and SMT to ensure global teams share information and coordinate on cross-cutting or mutually beneficial actions, including joint advocacy and communications planning ahead of major launches.
- Work with the communications and operations teams to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. This includes championing consistent use of EJF’s systems and procedures for sharing information, and proposing improvements that make work simpler or more effective.
- Support team leads in keeping their teams working efficiently, helping to identify swift solutions to emerging problems.
Strategy, research and support
Support the development of campaign strategies and funding proposals, and carry out research on policy and strategic issues, as needed and as capacity allows.
Essential skills and experience
- Outstanding project, team and budget management experience (at least five years).
- Practical experience of monitoring and evaluation, including working with outcome and impact frameworks and progress reporting.
- Analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise large volumes of information from multiple sources into clear, concise analysis.
- A strategic and pragmatic thinker with experience supporting campaign planning, delivery and evaluation.
- Excellent, collaborative working style with proven experience convening and inspiring action in cross-cultural environments and across diverse, dispersed teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and simply to staff, senior leadership and external audiences.
- Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted working relationships at all levels, including the confidence to follow up decisively and tactfully on deadlines and procedures.
- Excellent organisational and collaborative skills; self-motivated, able to work independently, prioritise workloads and balance multiple work streams.
- Demonstrable commitment to EJF's vision, mission and values and a determination to change our world for the better.
- A strong understanding of, and commitment to, conservation and environmental justice.
Desirable skills and experience
- Professional experience of working in a not-for-profit organisation.
- Proficiency in other languages (French, Spanish, German).
We strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented backgrounds in the environmental and human rights sectors to apply. If you believe you would be a great fit but don’t meet every requirement, we would still love to hear from you.
What we offer
We offer a rewarding package designed to support your well-being, flexibility, and professional growth:
- 22 days’ annual leave (exclusive of bank holidays), increasing with each year of service, plus additional paid leave between Christmas and New Year.
- Private healthcare package.
- Generous pension scheme, with employer contributions increasing over time.
- Flexible working hours and hybrid working (3 days in the office/2 from home).
- Cycle-to-work scheme.
- A dynamic, supportive, and inclusive working environment, with genuine opportunities for professional development and career progression.
- The chance to contribute to an organisation delivering real-world impact for people and planet.
The deadline for applications is 6pm (UK time) on Friday 13 November 2026. Early applications are strongly encouraged, as we will be shortlisting and interviewing on a rolling basis.
The interview process is likely to include three stages: a short screening call, a panel interview with a task relevant to the role and a final interview.
We're grateful to everyone who applies and we read every application carefully. Because of the volume of applications and the size of our team, we're only able to contact shortlisted candidates.
Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK.
EJF is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity within the workplace. If you need any adjustments to the application or interview process, please let us know.
