Carbon, Climate & Energy

Are you interested in renewable energy and enjoy solving problems on the fly? Do you like to keep busy and make things happen? Are you a people person with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Join our dynamic team and help accelerate the adoption of clean energy & heating solutions.

Who we are

We're primarily a distributor of components of renewable energy systems - from solar panels to batteries and heat pumps.

At Midsummer, we're passionate about reducing carbon emissions, and from humble beginnings, we have grown to be one of the biggest players in the distribution of renewable energy products such as solar PV, battery storage, and heat pumps in the UK and Ireland.

We stand out from the crowd thanks in part to our market-leading software for designing systems, but we also specialise in building great relationships with our trade customers. As an organisation, we have a strong environmental ethos, and our team shares a belief in an open and honest approach to business. Our operations team is crucial in helping us to deliver the excellent quality and service our customers rely on.

About the role

We need a practical, common-sense problem solver to help ensure our operations run smoothly. Your time will be split between two main areas, general operations and site specific facilities:

General operations:

You will be part of an operations team that aims to ensure our warehouses and logistics operate as efficiently as possible. This will involve:

  • Sales support: Assisting sales team members in need of information on the status of their dispatched orders and finding solutions when things go wrong
  • Planning: Coordinating outbound delivery logistics through our growing fleet of vehicles and 3rd party courier partners
  • Warehouse support: Being the first port-of-call for the warehouse during busy days or periods of staff absence - jumping downstairs to help pick and pack orders.
  • Returns: Help process goods that have been returned to us, investigate the circumstances of the return and take appropriate action.

Facilities management:

You will ensure that our Glasgow site functions as a safe, organised and efficient working environment. This will involve:

  • Building work: Identify areas in need of repair, doing some DIY or coordinating with contractors where necessary. There will also be opportunities to suggest and help support the operations management on projects relating to the improvement of the building. This will often involve investigating the business case and managing the project.
  • Waste: Manage waste streams on site, ensuring warehouse housekeeping and appropriate disposal of hazardous goods.
  • Systems: Ensure onsite systems related to safety and security are maintained and working correctly such as cctv, fire and intruder alarms.
  • H&S: Liaise with the Warehouse Management team to go through weekly and monthly H&S walks to action anything raised.
  • Vehicles, tools and consumables: Purchasing and maintaining warehouse equipment such as pallet trucks, forklift and tools. Maintaining suitable levels of warehouse consumables such as packaging and pallets. Oversee maintenance and checks on the company's fleet vehicles.

Who we're looking for

If you like variety and enjoy a challenge, this fast-paced role could be for you.

You are practical, hands-on, and take a common-sense approach to everything you do. You aren't intimidated by learning completely new things independently, and you're happy stepping outside of your comfort zone when a new challenge arises.

  • You are a natural problem solver: You spot issues—whether it’s an operational bottleneck or a leaky roof—and find effective ways to solve them
  • You enjoy variety: You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, happily shifting from desk work to physical tasks
  • You have a head for numbers; You know your way around a spreadsheet and how to interpret data
  • You are a team player: You have a friendly and easy-going manner with co-workers and customers, happy to get involved with whatever needs doing

Experience in operations, facilities management, retail, trades, or warehouse work would be an advantage—but it is far from essential. We are open to hearing from people with transferable skills, provided you have the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

What it offers

You'll be joining a young, dynamic company with positive values that is aiming to position itself as the leading distributor of renewable energy systems in the UK.

  • A friendly and fast-paced work environment alongside a great team.
  • Salary of £27,000-30,000 depending on experience.
  • A varied daily work life, and insight into all the workings of a growing green business.
  • Eligibility for the company's profit-share scheme, which rewards all employees when the company does well.
  • 25 days holiday every year (plus bank holidays).
  • Enrolment in the company pension scheme.
  • A free bag of delicious, fresh, locally grown organic veg every week!

At Midsummer, we pride ourselves on our strong environmental ethos, collaborative team spirit, and passion for driving the energy transition. If you'd like to be part of the mission, we'd love to hear from you!
