About The Role

Can you help inspire our future conservationists and connect young people to nature?

Help us to shape unforgettable experiences for our family visitors of all ages. We believe the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them.

Our team delivers a variety of fun and educational seasonal activities, which the whole family can enjoy together. So, from pellet-dissecting to spotting their first wigeon, setting up trails to pond-dipping for waterlife, you will help bring awe-inspiring nature up close to families and spark that connection.

This is a great role for those who will enjoy getting involved behind the scenes and face to face with all of our visitors; ensuring they have with a great day out with us, encouraging them to understand the work we are doing, and supporting our work. Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need. If you are interested in volunteering for WWT but don't wish to apply online, please email [email protected] or leave a message at 01453 891 231 with your name and number.

About You

This role will suit you if:

  • Have an approachable, warm and friendly manner
  • Are happy to work both as part of friendly, busy team and lone-working at times

  • Bringing to life self-led activities and seasonal events throughout the year; from pond dipping and bug hunting, to bird watching and owl pellet dissection!
  • Helping the team to plan, prepare, run and feedback on seasonal holiday events and WWT national events and trails, as further opportunities for connecting people with our wetland wildlife.
  • Supporting our staff with delivering other special events, such as bats and barn owl evening walks, and guided walks.
  • Helping staff and other volunteers with occasional media-related activities and other opportunities for enhancing engagement for audiences.
  • Taking due care for the safety, welfare and enjoyment of the visiting public, especially children.
