Volunteer Coordinator (Voluntary Role)
RSPB
Please be aware this is a voluntary role, not a paid staff role.
Do you enjoy supporting people and would you like to make a positive impact for nature? Are you looking to build on existing skills and gain experience within the volunteer sector? We are looking for a well organised person, with excellent communication skills who can devote 4-6 hours a week and join our friendly team of Volunteer Coordinators. You would be helping to support the amazing conservation work that we’re doing at the beautiful sites within the Dee Estuary Reserve.
Volunteer Coordinators undertake a range of tasks, including:
- Assisting with recruitment and inductions of new volunteers.
- Recording volunteer hours.
- Registering new volunteers on our volunteer management database.
- Dealing with queries from both new & existing volunteers.
- Ensuring our volunteer database is kept up to date and accurate.
- Championing the RSPBs annual volunteer engagement survey.
- Promoting training opportunities.
- Engaging current and future volunteers for events.
You'll be trained in everything you need to know beforehand, and we'll support you in your role every step of the way, including providing all required equipment. We are ideally looking for someone who can work in our reserve office, but home working is also available
Beneficial skills for this role are:
- A people person, friendly and approachable
- Excellent organisational skills
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small team.
- Excellent record keeper.
This is a rewarding and enjoyable role. You will be part of a small and friendly team of staff and volunteers. This is a chance to gain experience in working with people of all ages and to learn new skills and develop existing ones.
You'd be making a real difference by helping us keep the reserves well-supported by volunteers, ensuring they are safe for visitors and well-managed for wildlife.
There is room for development within the role, an opportunity to volunteer for additional days or role-share.
Kindly note this role is NOT suitable for under 18's.
We cannot accept applications from outside the United Kingdom. Thank you for reading this role description.
About RSPB
The RSPB is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature. We bring people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. We carry out conservation on a large scale, protect and restore habitats, and save species from extinction. We’re living in a nature and climate emergency, and we won’t stop whilst the threats persist.
We believe our work makes a real difference to the world we live in. It takes a great team to
save nature and we need a wide range of skills to make it happen.
As an RSPB employee, you will be helping to save nature every time you come to work. There’s never been a more important time to protect our wildlife and wild places, so we want to make sure you feel rewarded for everything you help us to achieve.
