Do you want to gain social media experience in the charity sector?

We are looking for people to help us grow our social media channels, spreading our inspiring message to more people.

Flight Free UK is a small, UK-based charity that encourages people to travel without flying in order to reduce climate change emissions. You can find us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky, LinkedIn and TikTok: @FlightFreeUK.

Networking and interacting with people is a key part of social media, and requires good communication skills as well as positivity and self-motivation. You can develop your skills in communication while learning how a small charity works, which are both valuable assets to add to your CV.

If you are enthusiastic, good at communicating, and passionate about the climate, we want to hear from you!

Our volunteer positions are for 8 hours per week, which can fit around your routine at a time that suits you. The role is remote, so you'll be working from home.

All volunteers receive regular supervision and training in communication. If you are interested in working in the charity sector, or in social media, this is the role for you!

Role description:

  • 8 hours per week (worked at your convenience)
  • Communicating in line with Flight Free UK's message
  • Online networking
  • Scheduling posts and reacting to conversations
  • Sharing and reacting to news stories

Volunteers are appointed on a rolling basis so no need to wait until the deadline to apply.

This internship is for UK residents only.

We look forward to working with you!

About Flight Free UK

Our mission is to inform people of the climate impact of aviation and inspire people to travel by other means. We challenge people to take a year off flying to reduce emissions and shift the norm away from aviation. Our short-term challenge is a great way to inspire long-term behaviour change, and we show that individual consumer choices can lead to industry and system change.
