Conservation & Wildlife

Help us engage our audiences by helping to deliver our social media strategy through creating and posting content so that we can inspire people to collaborate as urban nature-nurturers on our platform, fund our programmes and partner in our work.

What will you be doing?

Our charity delivers advice, resources, support and a connecting platform to urban communities wanting to collaborate to create networks of habitat for health-giving wildlife. We are particularly focussed on those most socially, economically and racially marginalised of communities. We are looking for someone wishing to gain and develop experience in social media marketing to work with us as our young charity moves from pilot phase to delivery of projects on multiple hub sites. This means we’re recruiting volunteers who can help to document and broadcast our activities on our 'hub' sites and the launch of our 'Natural Champions' programme; showcasing and sharing our impact with existing and new audiences.

We would like the volunteer to:

  • Help us to execute a social media campaign around and outwards from our pilot site locations in Hackney, East London, and more broadly in the nature-derived health & wellbeing, urban nature and climate/biodiversity spaces, including through audience analysis
  • Help us to manage our social media on an ongoing basis e.g. using a centralised tool, creating a content calendar, identifying easy and free graphic tools and images and extracting great content for socials from our programme of site activities
  • Produce fresh and engaging content for our social media channels
  • Prepare graphics for sharing across channels
  • Engage with our followers and encourage interaction
  • Manage and maintain social media channels on a regular basis

You will be working as part of the Marketing and Comms working group with the director, an existing marketing/social media volunteer and relevant trustee/s who will provide an overview of our existing communication and marketing materials, as well as our content strategy, brand guidelines and nascent brand research/user personas.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a volunteer who has the skills they can apply to:

  • Write and edit content for social media platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Build strategies to increase social media following and build fundraising and awareness campaigns.
  • Develop a coherent brand voice for social media, from content creation to community interactions.
  • Create content calendars to help plan social media activity; and
  • Is confident with using new computer tools such as Hootsuite, Social Sprout, Canva, etc

The volunteer should also have:

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to quickly understand the needs of our team, organisation and users.
  • The ability and confidence to ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements.
  • An understanding of the resource constraints of a small charity, and willingness to work with these.
  • An open and relaxed approach to giving and receiving feedback.

What difference will you make?

Your input will shape how we present ourselves to our service users, stakeholders, funders and general public. With your help we will be able to continue to expand our programme of ‘hub’ site community engagement and habitat building activities and launch our 'Natural Champions' programme. You will also help us leverage essential further funding and contribute to the public conversation about nature-derived health & wellbeing and the contribution towns and cities can make to tackling the biodiversity and climate crises.
