Women’s Fund for Nature (charity # 1212807) is an exciting new initiative that invites determined and collaborative women to come together, pool their resources, and support youth-led responses to the crises facing nature, the climate, and the environment in the UK.
We’re looking for a volunteer Finance Manager who will help us manage the Fund’s membership dues and donations, both of which will make up the bulk of the Fund’s finances, while keeping us compliant with the expectations and legal requirements of HMRC and the Charity Commission.
This is a position for someone who’s excited by the idea of helping a brand-new initiative get off the ground.
In particular, we are looking for someone who can lead on the following activities:
- Establish the essential financial policies, systems, and procedures needed for the operation of the Fund, and ensure that they are followed and kept up to date.
- Prepare accounting, tax, and audit reports for review by the Trustees and external auditors.
- Monitor income and expenditure, generally maintain an overview of the Fund’s financial position, highlight any concerns or risks, and advise the Founder and Trustees on any financial decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with any applicable legal, charitable or tax-related obligations.
- Help the Founder and Trustees understand financial information and their financial responsibilities.
The type of person we are looking for is someone with:
- Experience in finance, bookkeeping and/or accounting.
- Familiarity with the governance, accounting, legal, or administrative procedures of a charity or voluntary group.
- Basic familiarity with one or more CRM systems.
- Enthusiasm for accounting or finance, and the interest and patience to explain it to others!
- A level of comfort in working remotely and independently.
- An interest in our Mission and supportive of our Values.
- A team player! We’re looking for someone who is willing to jump in, teach us, learn from us, and join us on this exciting journey.
The Women’s Fund for Nature can offer you:
- Flexible working conditions. The workload might vary but on average we expect there would need to be a commitment of about 1–3 hours per week (maybe a little more in the early stages). You decide where and when to work.
- The opportunity to be involved from the very start in establishing a new, innovative charitable giving model.
- The opportunity to work with a highly committed, dynamic team, and to get to know the Members and grantees of the Fund.
