Calling all birders! We are delighted to announce a unique opportunity to become a residential volunteer on a high-profile Bird Observatory. Lundy, a rugged island situated in the Bristol Channel Approaches, is a haven for seabirds and migration, steeped in natural history, archaeology and history. Main duties involve supporting the delivery of all Bird Observatory studies, primarily the daily census, bird ringing and migration counts, seabird productivity monitoring, wider wildlife recording and data collection. Confident identification of breeding and migrant birds is essential. Candidates holding an independent BTO bird ringing permit will be ideally placed (i.e C-permit, or above).

The role runs from February to November 2026, but seasonal stints will be considered for exceptional candidates.

Benefits: Accommodation and all meals are provided for the duration of the role.
