Volunteer Seal Fieldworker

Dates of position: 1st August- end of October (date tbc with candidate)
We are looking for a volunteer to join the team for the 2026 season to support the island's important Atlantic Grey Seal monitoring programme. No specific qualifications or experience are necessary to apply, however, enthusiastic naturalists working towards a career in conservation will be well placed.
The position revolves around seal studies and protection, primarily daily pup checks, weekly full island surveys, disturbance surveys, public engagement and end of season report writing. In-house training will be provided, but prior familiarity with Atlantic Grey Seal identification and ecology is advantageous.
Essential
Willingness to work independently for extended periods on coastal slopes and path.
Desirable
Experience conducting wildlife surveys. Exceptional candidates may have previous marine mammal survey experience or photo identification skills.
Food and accommodation will be provided for the duration of the role.
