Volunteer Director
Instinctively Wild CIC
We are currently looking for volunteers who want to be Directors - to help us drive the organisation forward.
Do you have…
- Vision and drive?
Passion for making a difference in people’s lives?
Entrepreneurial flair – wanting to create opportunities both for yourself and Instinctively Wild CIC?
Ideally a new Director would take on a project theme or idea and own it. Developing it – marketing and selling it, or gaining funding. We would like a prospective Volunteer Director’s – to be knowledgeable about at least two of the following areas.
- Project development.
- Public sector procurement.
- Corporate team-building.
- Forest Schools.
- Bushcraft.
- Outdoor Learning.
- Eco-therapy.
- Social media.
- Website development & maintenance.
- Governance, Policy update.
- Business Planning.
- Grants and funding.
- Training course development.
- Networking/marketing.
- Accounts and financial planning.
- Volunteer development.
Ideally you would be based in Scotland (Lothians/Borders). It is not always necessary to be able to come on projects, but it would help you see what we do and how we do it. If you live out of these areas - but are interested then get in touch, let's see if we can make it work.
The main thing we are looking for is someone who has drive and initiative who has the skills and knowledge to develop a programme from initial idea, to securing funding/selling it, then in conjunction with existing leaders, deliver the programme/project. We are not looking for Directors - who would become a name on a bit of paper and not do anything - tried that - doesn't work. We need people who will do things off their own back. Mentoring and support would be given - but once you have got your feet under the table and know the kind of work we do then you would have the autonomy to develop ideas and projects yourself.
When delivering projects - then you would be able to get paid for this work. *Ideally if we can generate enough income then we could realistically get paid for the admin work behind the scenes, but alas currently that is not the case and at the moment all Directors (Pete Carthy - founding Director included) all work as volunteers doing the admin work. This is a top priority of 2026 to fix. Hence needing more Directors to generate projects and through that more income.
As we are working with vulnerable groups, there is a thorough vetting procedure.
To start off though an initial chat over the phone would be needed, prior to meeting up.
