Chair of Friends of Bradford's Becks
Friends of Bradford's Becks
Volunteer leadership opportunity with Friends of Bradford’s Becks (FoBB)
Bradford’s Becks are at the heart of the city’s landscape and heritage. Over the past decade, Friends of Bradford’s Becks (FoBB) have helped to change perceptions of these waterways as dirty forgotten drains - to spaces full of nature, community use and pride. We’re now looking for an inspiring voluntary leader to guide FoBB into its next chapter.
The role
We’re seeking a new chair of Friends of Bradford’s Becks: someone with a passion to help FoBB continue to deliver positive change for Bradford’s Becks and for the people who live near, enjoy and rely on them.
As part of the role you’ll:
- Coordinate and chair quarterly meetings with the FoBB volunteer group
- Coordinate and inspire a growing network of volunteers and partners
- Support FoBB’s activities such as walks, clean-ups, Riverfly monitoring, and education/awareness events
- Shape a shared vision for clean, living and loved becks across Bradford
About you
You will have some of the following:
- Around 5-8 hours per month of your time to contribute to something that really matters
- Strong communication and people skills
- An interest in the environment, heritage, and/or working with communities
- The ability to motivate others and see projects through
- Leadership or coordination experience is welcome but not essential – enthusiasm and commitment are what count most
What We Offer
You’ll join a passionate, friendly and skilled volunteer group supported by The Aire Rivers Trust and a network of local agencies. Training and support will be available.
