Are you interested in sharing your skills and interests? Do you want to develop your skills in teaching, working outdoors and empowering young people? We are looking for a new team of Youth Engagement Volunteers to support our growing youth programme.

The youth programme at AWT works with young people aged 14 – 30 across Bristol and Avon, to connect with nature, learn about local wildlife and develop practical land management skills, primarily at our urban nature reserve, Grow Wilder.

It also includes public events for young people to connect with each other, receive career advice and learn something new.

We are particularly interested in applications from people from diverse backgrounds or those who are facing barriers in entering the conservation sector.

This role is an opportunity to assist with the regular delivery of the youth programme. You will be part of a team of engagement volunteers who will assist with school and youth workshops at Grow Wilder and supporting the varied youth events programme.

What you will be doing

  • Setting up and packing away equipment at the beginning and end of each session
  • Delivering/facilitating a activities to a group of up to 10 young people
  • Potential to support planning of sessions, activities and events

The skills you need

  • Punctual and reliable
  • Interest in developing skills in teaching and mentoring young people
  • Interest in nature, wildlife and some species ID (or a desire to learn)
  • Experience and confidence in working with children/teenagers may be helpful, but is not essential
  • Training will be delivered for all elements of the role
