Nature Connections volunteer role is a new and exciting opportunity to assist the Nature Based Wellbeing (NBW) team in facilitating and delivering a full programme of nature-based group activities and providing support to the participants accessing these groups.

We’re looking for individuals who are interested in the benefits of nature connection to enhance wellbeing with good levels of communication skills, including active listening and empathy, and with the ability to get along with people from all backgrounds.

You will gain training and experience in co-facilitating and developing nature-based activities, confidence and skills in managing group dynamics and maintaining the safety and comfort of individuals participating in peer-support groups in a collaborative and supportive team.

Types of activity will include – practical conservation, gardening and horticulture, creative or heritage crafts, ecology and citizen science. We are looking for multiple volunteers, so if you'd like to express an interest in days/types of activity, we will try to accommodate this.

Volunteer Days

1-2 days per week (between Monday-Thursday). There may also be the option to volunteer on a specific activity - please get in touch.
We are looking for volunteers who are reliable and committed to attending scheduled sessions consistently.

Length of Commitment

6 months (with possibility to extend)

About St Nicks

We are St Nicks, based at St Nicks Environment Centre hidden behind residential properties in the Tang Hall area of York. We have a thriving 24 acre nature reserve that is free to explore 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Our volunteer team help us maintain and manage our reserve for the benefit of people and wildlife. We have recently expanded into managing green corridors around York.
