The Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) Fund is seeking three new Trustees to join our Board. If you’re 16+ and passionate about environmental action, community energy and a fair transition to net zero, we’d love to hear from you. We welcome people from all backgrounds and can offer mentoring to those new to trusteeship.

About the Fund

The BWCE Fund is an independent charity that distributes surplus income from BWCE’s renewable energy projects to local initiatives tackling carbon reduction and fuel poverty. Since 2015, over £470,000 has been awarded to 119 community projects across the BWCE area.

The Role

Trustees:

  • Decide how the Fund is allocated each year
  • Meet quarterly in Bath (2–3 hours per meeting, plus reading time)
  • Review strategy, grant guidelines, annual report and accounts
  • Attend occasional local events and visit funded projects
  • Help shape the Fund’s response to the evolving energy landscape

About You

Essential:

  • Commitment to local climate action and a just transition
  • Ability to give the time required
  • Willingness to learn trustee responsibilities
  • Good judgement and collaborative working

Desirable (one or more):

  • Charity governance experience
  • Fuel poverty expertise
  • Fundraising experience
  • Knowledge of rural communities in North East Somerset

We particularly welcome applicants from younger and ethnically diverse backgrounds.
