About The Role

At WWT, we believe that the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them, so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close. We are looking for friendly, outgoing volunteers to support visitor activities, bringing experiences to life! You will be directly involved in shaping unforgettable visitor encounters through your warm welcome, positive interactions, and the educational information & activities that you provide.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team, and we wouldn’t be able to maintain our internationally important wetland sites without their help. You will receive a very warm welcome, full induction & training, and be provided with the necessary equipment, uniform, and anything else needed to thrive in your role.

Main tasks

  • Assisting with the visitor service desk – meeting and greeting visitors on arrival, selling bird food
  • Undertaking moth trapping activities, otter talks, and flamingo talks.
  • Helping to undertake the daily pond dipping activity by showing visitors what to do and helping to identify pond life species.
  • Assisting with the seasonal activities.

About You

No previous experience is required for this role as full training will be provided, and a willingness to learn new skills is more important.

This role would suit you if:

  • You feel confident in talking to and engaging with members of the public, and are able to adapt your communication style to suit the audience
  • You enjoy interacting with a wide range of people
  • You enjoy working as part of a team of staff and volunteers
  • You have a strong commitment to excellent customer service
  • You are friendly and approachable with a positive attitude

General notes

This role is not suitable for people under 18 years.
