Anti-poaching Volunteers (Malta)
Committee Against Bird Slaughter
We rely heavily on the vital work of volunteers to assist us in illegal wildlife crime occurring on the Maltese Islands.
You will be working in small experienced teams to gather evidence of illegal bird hunting/ trapping via video cameras, working covertly and calling the police to assist with the capture of wildlife criminals.
It involves long days and shift hours and potentially stressful/frustrating situations. It's useful if you are competent at using a video camera, and willing to drive in difficult terrain, have good physical fitness and basic bird I.D skills.
The reward is knowing you have saved the lives of hundreds of migrating birds, and hopefully gathered enough evidence to ensure the criminal is taken to court and faces justice.
You will gain experience in wildlife crime, bird ID, mapping, video use and get to visit another country too.
There are several 1 or 2 week posts available various dates September 2026.
This is a voluntary position but shared self catering accommodation is included and flights will be reimbursed.
