Nature Recovery Residency 2027

Three residential places | January–December 2027 | Lower Sharpham Farm, South Devon

Spend a year living, working and learning with a nature recovery organisation.

Ambios is offering three voluntary residential places for people who want to build practical experience, develop their skills and immerse themselves in the day-to-day work of restoring nature.

Based at Lower Sharpham Farm in the beautiful River Dart Valley, you’ll be working in a living landscape, and become part of our team and vibrant residential community, working across a diverse range of nature recovery, regenerative agriculture and ecological restoration projects.

Over the course of the year, you’ll contribute to a wide range of work including:

• Nature recovery & habitat management – Get hands-on with practical habitat creation and management, rewilding, wetlands and re-wetting projects.
• Regenerative farming & livestock – Work with livestock and explore how farming can work alongside nature recovery.
• Agroforestry & land management – Gain practical experience in agroforestry, woodland creation, tree work and wider land management.
• Wildlife & ecological skills – Develop your understanding of wildlife and gain experience with ecological monitoring and surveys.
• Practical conservation skills – Build confidence with tools and practical countryside management.
• Green woodworking & rural skills – Learn traditional skills and crafts that connect people more closely with land and place.
• Residential training – Help support our immersive training programme, welcome trainees and contribute to the day-to-day running of our residential centre.
• Community & engagement – Get involved in events, community projects and opportunities to connect people with nature.
• Personal development – Receive mentoring and support from the Ambios team as you develop your skills, experience and confidence.

Alongside hands-on experience, you will have the option to study a Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Regenerative Land-Based Systems through the Apricot Centre.

This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to build experience and explore a future career working in nature recovery, conservation, regenerative land management or ecological restoration.

You don’t need extensive previous experience or formal academic qualifications. We’re looking for people who are curious, committed, enthusiastic about nature and ready to get stuck in, and who enjoy being part of a shared residential community.

This is a voluntary position; food & accommodation provided in exchange.
