The Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust (ELGT) is looking for a committed and enthusiastic Chair to join our Board of Trustees. This is a voluntary role and the successful candidate will help develop the existing board and management team as well as lead strategic development in 2018. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to help us make a real, positive impact in the lives of local communities.

The right person will have board level experience, knowledge of charity governance, a keen interest in the work of ELGT, and a strong commitment to the Trust’s ethos. A background in strategic planning, the environment sector, health and social care, public bodies or Scottish charity management would be advantageous.

The primary focus of this role is to lead the Board of Trustees in providing effective governance and strategic leadership to the Trust. You will also line manage and support the Chief Executive in their role, chair quarterly Board meetings efficiently and effectively, and act as an ambassador and public face of the Trust.

You can find more information and details of how to apply on the ELGT website at the link below.

Closing date: Monday 30th October 2017, 12noon

Interview date: Monday 13th November 2017

About the Trust:

ELGT is a successful and widely-respected independent charity that undertakes community-based environmental projects, working with partners to improve the quality and accessibility of greenspaces in and around Scotland’s capital city. Increasingly, ELGT is also delivering a number of health promotion projects, working to tackle barriers to access and engagement.

We believe that quality local greenspaces can have a positive impact on the health and well-being of individuals, particularly those living in disadvantaged areas. Board members should share ELGT’s belief that everyone should have the opportunity to access and enjoy their natural environment.
