Camp Program Outdoor Ed Facilitator (short term volunteer)

The Traidhos Camp Program is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It provides residential environment and activity camps for young people and family camps using outdoor education experiences. In the New Year many visitors will join from China for nature-based camps. Camps are facilitated in English. See www.threegeneration.org Visiting School Program and camps.threegeneration.org.

The successful applicant will be part of a team leading groups on visits to hill-villages, facilitating on-campus nature activities including insect and scavenger hunts, leading  team-building and encouraging reflection after adventurous activities which may include kayaking, biking and trekking. The successful applicant will also manage groups during cultural activities and with older students be able to facilitate discussion on living sustainably and the responsibility of being a global citizen.

The successful applicant will meet this profile:

  • University Graduate
  • Experience leading primary aged children in the out of doors eg outdoor activity center, scouts/guides, cubs/brownies
  • Enjoys interacting with groups of young people
  • Dynamic facilitator aware of keeping students safe
  • Organized and able to pay attention to detail, quickly confident to lead a group
  • A good team player
  • Willing to immerse in all aspects of the camp program
  • Willing to work long hours and physically fit
  • Willing to embrace Thai culture and able to cope with working in a tropical climate
  • Available January and February 2018 (2 months)

The following would be an added advantage

  • Life saving qualification
  • Experience working with children for whom English is not mother tongue
  • Ability to speak Chinese 

You will expect to have fun while you grow your skills in managing diverse groups of students, develop awareness of global issues and experience working in an international context while exploring Northern Thailand with the camp groups.

Camp Program provides volunteers with shared accommodation, all food and a per diem towards some of your travel costs.
